The actress has joined different high-profile celebrities and politicians to sentence the actions of the Islamic group Boko Haram. “Like everybody, I’m absolutely sickened by it and the thought of them out there right now, terrified and being abused and sold,” Jolie advised French information channel i-Tele. The ‘Tomb Raider’ star mentioned the kidnappings mirrored the existence of larger issues. “Because of a lack of impunity and because people believe they can get away with this, people will commit these kind of crimes. And not only do they believe that girls shouldn’t have an education which is absolutely wrong, it is appalling, it is of course their right and the most wonderful thing, the most important thing for young girls, but that they’re taken as objects and going to be so violated and if the world does nothing then they get away this, then we set this horrible precedent,” the actress mentioned. Nigerian police provided a $300,000 reward for information resulting in the rescue of the women who had been kidnapped final month by militant group Boko Haram which is combating for an Islamic state in northeast Nigeria. “I think it’s extremely important that something is done immediately to try to find these girls, to try to bring them home and God forbid we can’t, we have to still bring these men to justice,” Jolie added. Boko Haram chief Abubakar Shekau has threatened in a video to promote the women kidnapped on April 14 from a secondary faculty within the village of Chibok “on the market”.
